Electronic & Telecommunication / Electronics & Telecommunications Activities

Electronics & Telecommunications Activities

For overall development of the students, only academics are not sufficient. Keeping this in view, E & TC department organizes various co-curricular, extra-curricular activities throughout the year. E & TC department has a well established students association, TEESA and IEEE student branch, under which various activities are planned and executed.

TEESA is the students association at Department of Electronics and Telecommunication which can be described as, "of the students, by the students, for the students." Truly it is an active body at the Department who takes initiative in organizing various Technical / Non-technical activities for the development of students in all respects. TEESA was first established in our Department on Engineer's Day, 15th September, 2002 when the first batch was in Third Year.

As the Third Year students have to face campus interviews in semester II and with a view to make aware the S.E students on how preparation is to be done for campus interviews and how to enhance communication skills activities like, Aptitude tests, Group Discussions, Soft Skill competitions, Personality development workshops are planned in First semester generally.

To keep up with the fast development in technical fields, some guest lectures on recent developments in various technical fields are arranged.

To give awareness about surrounding happenings guest lectures on non-technical topics and to increase the General Knowledge G.K. Quizzes are also organized.

To motivate students for post graduation TEESA organizes various seminars on how preparation is done for competitive exams like GATE, GRE, GMAT, CET. Competitions like SU-DO-KU, General Aptitude are there for developing logical thinking and for Brain-Gym.

A Wall Magazine is also run throughout the year by student committee under TEESA. It does give a good out way to the imaginative ideas of innovative minds and also help to be aware of current technological developments.

IEEE Student Branch Activities

Department has active IEEE student branch since 2003. Most of the technical activities organized by this branch includes: - Seminars/Workshops in collaboration with Signal Processing and Communication Society Cahpter, IEEE Pune Section. Membership drive activities like workshops on

  • Introduction to MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Guest Lectures
  • Community development programs etc.
This year we also have formed IEEE-women in Engineering Student Chapter.

Community Development Programs

Department staff along with students had been taking part in Community development program organized by IEEE WIE affinity Group. Mrs. K.R Joshi and Mrs. R.S Kamathe have continued to arrange this since 2003. It includes creating awareness among school children belonging to rural and urban area schools, about the technological developments, internet, mobile communication etc. Students of our department are taking active participation to school children by preparing charts, models. More than 60 such sessions were conducted. Students had participated in competitions organized by PVG College and PICT College related to this activity. The money that the students received in the form of prize was utilized by donating books to the rural area School children.

  1. In the year 2012, Student Awareness Program and contest was organized at SIT Vadgaon by IEEE Pune Section. Two groups (each 0f 4 students) have participated, in the same. They have given presentations on the topic "Deep Space Research" and "Satellite Communication" in four schools (two from rural and urban area each). One of the groups has won 3rd prize in state level competition based on this. Our college has also started WIE (Women in Engineering) Student Chapter in January, 2013.
