Artificial Intelligence And Data Science

Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science at P.E.S’s Modern College of Engineering started in the academic year 2020-2021. The department has undergraduate (UG) program with intake capacity of 60. The program is approved by A.I.C.T.E. New Delhi and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Pune.

As a focused branch of the global technology, AI & DS have an enormous scope of development with plenty opportunities. The key area of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science is to deliver the intelligence through multifaceted program to solve a specified problem. Self-motivated, strong and high performing faculty are involved in mentoring the overall growth of the students

Sufficient career openings exist in public and private sectors such as health care industry, manufacturing, e-commerce, social networks, etc. The jobs in AI &DS include Software analysts and developers, Computer scientists and computer engineers, AI Algorithm specialists, Research scientists, AI &ML Engineer, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Scientist, AI Software Engineer and many more.


To create a collaborative academic environment in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science by imparting required skill sets and interactive industry interface for students and inculcate into them social and ethical values

Learners are expected to know and be able to–


Engineering knowledge

Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, Engineering fundamentals, and an Engineering specialization to the solution of complex Engineering problems.


Problem analysis

Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex Engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and Engineering sciences.


Design / Development of Solutions

Design solutions for complex Engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and Environmental considerations.


Conduct Investigations of Complex


Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.


Modern Tool Usage

Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern Engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex Engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.


The Engineer and Society

Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practices.


Environment and Sustainability

Understand the impact of the professional Engineering solutions in societal and Environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.



Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of Engineering practice.
