Objective

  • Able to read and share the knowledge effectively.
  • Able to read various technical concepts from magazines like CSI, ACM etc.
  • To improve the group learning by having multiple reading sessions.

  • Improved knowledge level of students.
  • Expertise in reading and sharing the knowledge gained during Book Geek's.

Poster Making Competition

Summary report : As a part of Code Fiesta we have conducted Poster making competition under Book Geek’s club for S.E. and T.E. students.
  • Judge invited for this event was Mr. : Ajit Hatti, a software developer .
  • He evaluated the poster on basis of title, clarity of text and diagram, presenter’s knowledge of topic, neatness, technical approach etc.
  • 40 students have been participated in this event.
  • It was a very helpful activity for all the students.

Outcomes :
  • Imparting of ethical values, societal values into students. Enhanced technical and soft skill knowledge of students

Session On How to Read Research Paper

  • To learn how to read reference paper.
Outcomes :
  • Participants learned about reference paper reading and understating it.

  • Department of Computer Engg. of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a session on How to read reference paper for All students from Computer Department.
  • Workshop started with the topic which books need to be read for any subject.
  • Students got idea of how to start with reading a reference paper. The session was very useful and helpful for students to understand that before writing a technical paper you should be a good reader

  • We have conducted group discussion on Digital education system vs Traditional education system.
  • All the students participated actively.
  • This activity improved their way of putting their ideas without dominating the opponent side.
  • All the students in the class became aware about advantages and drawbacks of both the sides after end of the session.

  • The session was attended by 45 students
  • How to read technical magazine and its importance was explained to students
  • How to start delivering with your content, read from the magazine to other classmates is explained.
  • Various recent technical topics from the reputed journals were Explained by the students to the students .

Outcomes :
  • Every participant understands importance of reading technical journals for up-gradation of technical knowledge.

  • At the education level students should get information around the world. For this magazines and journals are great resources. They give information, education and also entertain us.
  • Students of S.E (A) participated in this activity.
  • Around 50 students from department have been participated in activity.
  • Staff also gave useful instruction to students.
  • Students also write small report on the topic they read.

  • To learn how to search and read research papers.
Summary report :
  • At the education level students should learn how to search and read research paper.
  • Students of S.E (A) participated in this activity. They search paper on IEEE and also try Jgate library.
  • Around 50 students from department have been participated in activity.
  • Staff gave useful instruction to students to access digital library.

  • Surfing the digital library will help in seminars and projects.

  • During the student activity slot under Book Geek's club we arranged various sessions on technical reading.
  • Here group of students prepared some topic and shared that knowledge with other students.
  • It was a kind of group discussion where all the participants were strongly motivated and prepared well for their topic.
  • By having such activities students will be able to overcome the stage fright & also will be able to communicate their ideas in the long run.

  • These two students along with the magazine reading went through some Research papers which are available in the digital library which is located in Central Library of the college.
  • Faculties of the respective class also helped these students during preparation of this topic.

  • As a part of Student Activity that was on 04/08/15, we at Computer Engineering Department organized a session on Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, Security features in modern browsers and tips for safe browsing.
  • With the growth of e-commerce, social networks and several other web based transaction systems, the amount of sensitive information which an average web user stores on the web is increasing rapidly. Attackers constantly find ways of stealing sensitive data of users using various techniques. Modern browsers have several features which prevent malicious attempts of attackers such as opening pop-ups, spreading malware etc.
  • Features such as Private browsing mode, Popup blockers and Domain highlighting were discussed.
  • Tips for safe browsing such as Auto update, Logging out of a website, Saving Bookmarks, Using the Remember Me feature were discussed.
  • Business intelligence (BI) is a set of tools and techniques used to derive useful information from vast amount of organizational data.
  • Data warehouse (DW) is a central repository of organizational data derived from any source and structured in a way suitable for querying, analysis and reporting using BI tools.
  • Business intelligence and data warehouse are necessity for all businesses and considerable size who aim to understand and grow their businesses.

As a part of Student Activity that was on 04/08/15, we at Computer Engineering Department organized a session on Google Projects & Computer vision in Image Processing.

  • The Computer vision is a field that includes methods for acquiring, processing, analyzing and understanding images.
  • In general, high-dimensional data from the real world is analyzed in order to produce numerical or symbolic information, in the forms of decisions.
  • A theme in the development of this field has been to duplicate the abilities of human vision by electronically perceiving and understanding an image.
  • 4. There has been a long history of computers in the field of Medicines, the medical imaging method X-RAY was discussed.
  • 5. In second part of session innovating ideas of Google Projects were discussed, Project Tango is one of them.
  • 6. roject Tango is a Smartphone and tablet project by Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group (ATAP), formerly a division of Motorola. Project Tango prototype is an Android Smartphone-like device which tracks the 3D motion of the device and creates a 3D model of the environment around it.

  • As a part of Student Activity that was on 28/07/15, we at Computer Engineering Department organized a session on Internet of Things(IoT) and Introduction to booting.
  • The global network infrastructure IoT and principles of IoT such as, 1.Value 2.Data 3.Security 4.Design were discussed.
  • Six A’s of IoT includes: 1.Anything, 2.Anytime, 3.Anywhere, 4.Anyone, 5.Anyservice, 6.Anynetwork.
  • It means that whatever, whenever, wherever, whoever wants can use any service by using any network.
  • Applications of IoT were discussed.Overall, it can be said that, IoT is a long awaited trend that is causing a surge of optimism in the technical sector.

  • Sushant Deshmukh: CSI - ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLGENCE IN ENHANCING THE EDUCATION. Need - Pen and paper education system had many flaws in it. To overcome them and create a more easy path between education and student R&D department created ITS( Intelligent Tutorial System). It gives us a visual for our imaginations. It reduces the time consumption. AI can also help the students from small villages and towns where there is no proper teaching faculty available.
