Summary report: After the inaugural which included messages from Dr. Nivedita Ekbote, the Deputy Secretary of PE Society, and Dr. K.R. Joshi, Principal of PES Modern College of Engineering, the first day’s session commenced with a deep relaxation technique. This was followed by a meditation laboratory explaining the elements of hope, wisdom, compassion, serenity, faith, dignity and sweetness. The Facilitator mentioned that it takes 21 days to form a habit and controlling the mind can be done through: meditation, micro meditation and meditation laboratory; willpower can be an important tool to fight back depression and that knowing oneself is necessary to get a clear picture of one’s acquired self and innate self. On the second day, there were inputs on the cycle of consciousness – T – thought, E – emotions, A – attitude, M – memories that is essential for stress management and in our daily lives.
Outcome: The participants learnt how to:

Summary of the event:

Alumni of MBA Department had an informative discussion with current students on their preparation for entry into the corporate. The alumni talked about opportunities in Industry 4.0, office automation, marketing of financial services, digital marketing, entrepreneurship and other career opportunities. The alumni also motivated them by sharing experiences during their college days. The Students were given a good glimpse of corporate life. A question answer session gave many tips to the students.

Alumni opined that the key reason for their success is the platform the institute provided them and the amount of support provided by the management during their study period. Furthermore, Alumni after sharing their experiences also showed interest to help, support, and cooperation for the betterment of the students and institute as whole. The perfect dialogue between alumni and students boosted their confidence.

Summary report: Workshop on Writing A Business Plan was organized on 7 th March 2020. Mr. Shirish Warudkar, PMA and Mr. Sopan Aghav conducted the workshop. The workshop was structured in two part. The first part was concentrated on template of a business plan and each section of a business plan was discussed in detail. A list of points for each section was compiled for future reference of the students. Second part of the workshop gave the hands on experience of writing a business plan. She also explained and provided hands on training on data validation, Vlookup and Hlookup, effective use of Graphs, Slicer connections, Basic Financial and logical functions. The session was very informative, interactive and application oriented.
Outcome:At the end of the session, the faculties were able to analyze the data using slicer, pivot tables, and were able to create dashboard. The session also helped them to understand how to use the basic functions in excel in their day to day work to increase efficiency.

Objectives:

Outcome:

The workshop provided a wonderful platform for knowledge sharing on Industry 4.0 related aspects such as Data Analytics, IOT for using information to drive intelligent actions and rapid prototyping. The participants got the insight about the challenges for HR and the role of faculties in the grooming the workforce of tomorrow for Industry 4.0.

Summary of the Event: International Workshop on “Organizational Transformation through Industry 4.0” under the QIP of Savitribai Phule Pune University, was conducted for two days on 14th & 15th of February 2019. During the workshop faculties and students from various colleges participated actively.
On the first day, the workshop was formally inaugurated in the presence of Prof.Dr.Kalyani Joshi, Principal MCOE, Dr. S. A. Itkar & Dr. N.R.Kulkarni, Vice principals, Dr. Kalyani Srinivas, Head MBA Department, Head of other deapartments, Guest speakers invited from various countries, advisory board members, participants from various institutes and the faculty members and students of MBA department. The key note address was delivered by Mr. Purushottam Darshankar. He briefed about some current aspects of Industry 4.0. Second session of the day was conducted by Dr. Abhay Kulkarni. His focus was on development of faculty members for making students ready for Industry 4.0. This session was followed by a talk of Dr. Christina Koutra from Abu Dhabi regarding challenges to be faced by HR due to this fourth industrial revolution. First post lunch session was presided over by Mr. Zihad Ahmed from Bangladesh. He is a head HR of Bengal Group of Industries. Participants were benefitted, by knowing the industrial and job market scenario in Bangladesh.
Second post lunch session and the last of the day was of Mr. Dhirya Pujara, CEO from USA and a TEDx speaker. He shared his story and experiences of becoming an entrepreneur. He also motivated participants to think about the human aspect of industrial revolution.
Second day of the workshop was more technical in nature. It started with the session by Mr. Sajid Pathan, a CEO from Canada on business analytics, followed by a technical session of Dr. Abhay Kumar Kuthe on rapid Prototyping. The day was concluded with the session by Mr. Sandip Shroff, Director of a Pune based company on IoT.

It is also the favorite shopping destination for million of its customers. It’s success is a true testament to the emotional bonding it has established with the Indian consumer, on account of its value offerings, aspiration appeal and service levels. In AY 19-20 students of MBA first year got an opportunity to experience an internship at Big Bazaar during “Sabse saste 5 Din”. The location for internship was at Kothrud, Pune. The students were engaged in BIG BAZAAR as much as their own employees and got a firsthand learning experience in doing work under the areas of store operations, retail marketing, visual merchandising, brand management, customer handling, sales promotion and various other areas of retailing. All the students were enthusiastic about the work assigned to them

Summary report: The MBA Induction “Aaroh: Rise High” was commenced with the keynote speaker, Mrs Harshali Murudkar. The guest speaker enlightened the students by stressing on the importance of obtaining an MBA degree and its return on investment. In her session, she laid emphasis on the innumerable benefits of being an entrepreneur and starting your own business. She not only explained the difference between a job, a career and a business by citing examples but also expressed how an MBA program can help students develop the entrepreneurial skills and knowledge they need to build great businesses. She taught us that competency is the sum total of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Lastly, Harshali ma’am also laid stress on the need to cultivate good interpersonal skills and how essential they have become to survive and grow in today’s competitive world.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Deepak Khanna as esteemed chief guest. The event was started by inauguration by the Chief Guest, Mr. Deepak Khanna who interacted with student coordinators and team members regarding the activities. Mr. Deepak Khanna encouraged and appreciated student coordinators and the team for their initiative and enthusiasm.

Management Games were conducted in three rounds with an intention to make students understand the important management concepts. The first two rounds consisted of two games each. There were total six participants from various colleges. The elimination was done after the second round and four teams reached the final (i.e. third) round & Results declared by Event by the Judges Mr. Mr. Amit Jadhav & Mr. Sangram Jadhav.

The theme for charts and models were innovation in business. Mr. Khanna judge and appreciated the efforts taken by the participant and declared the winners. Following are the winners:

Objective:
  • To provide an experiential learning that gives opportunities to interact with customers and understand retail market.
  • To understand the buying behavior and satisfaction level of customers in different sections of large retail formats.
  • To know effective marketing strategies which influence customer to purchase a product in such stores.
Summary: MBA I students of batch 18-20 got opportunity to experience internship at Big Bazaar. The location for internship was Kothrud, Camp, Baner and Vishrantwadi.

Students handled the responsibilities and duties in different sections like Food section, apparel section, general merchandise section which includes home garnishing, utensils, crockery, cutlery, sports goods, toys, footwear, and electronics etc. They also interviewed store manager and other employees of store to understand their level of preparation required, customers’ expectations from them, quality maintenance issues and Supply chain at store. They also observed pricing and promotional strategies adopted by store to attract customer.
Outcome: Students understood how departmental store operates and execute routine processes. Students got an opportunity to apply what they learned in classes to actual practice at store. Students observed Promotional activities, Human resources management, Supply chain management, Consumer buying behaviour in store etc. Big Bazaar also benefited due to students active contribution in their regular operations on the republic day.
“Capture The Moment” : Photography Contest and Exhibition to commemorate World Photography Day

Summary: To commemorate World Photography Day which is celebrated on 19th August, The Metamorph Club of MBA department held a Photography Contest – “Capture the Moment”. The theme for the contest was ‘Glimpses of Pune’. The contest saw an overwhelming response through numerous entries in DSLR and Mobile phone categories. Ms Surabhi Jejurikar, our Alumnus and a professional photographer was the judge for the contest. Mr Shashikant Khandapure, MBA-I-B and Ms Bhairavi Kemkar, MBA-I-B were the winners in DSLR and Mobile phone categories respectively. The Photography Exhibition organized on 8th September 2018 was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr Kalyani Joshi who appreciated the students’ talent. The images captured by the students were eye-catching and befitting the theme of the contest.

Summary: The name of the festival, Raksha Bandhan is made up of two words, Raksha (Protection) and Bandhan (Relation). Indian Armed forces and Police force are continuously striving to protect the fellow countrymen from Internal and external threats. In order to honor their service and valuable contribution, MBA department students visited Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center and Shivaji Nagar Police Station, Traffic Department. The students tied Rakhi to symbolize the respect for the people who protect our nation.

At Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center:
A team of twenty two students accompanied by faculties visited PRC Khadki. To make this a moment to cherish, students showed their gratitude by singing songs. They interacted personally with these soldiers and tried to learn from their experiences and words of wisdom.

At Deccan Traffic Division:
A team of ten students accompanied by faculties visited Deccan Traffic Division, Shivaji Nagar Pune. There to, the initiative was appreciated by the Incharge and his entire team. During the interaction, they discussed the importance of following traffic rules and wearing a helmet. They also appealed the students to initiate traffic awareness programs in nearby college locality.

Summary report:
Day 1: Day one started with formal inauguration and speech by HOD MBA, Dr. Kalyani Srinivas. She stressed on the importance of attitude to management students with appropriate examples.

Mr. Akshay Randive was the keynote speaker for the first day. In his speech he laid emphasis on importance of MBA and expectations of industry. He guided students about how to fix short term goals and long term goals.

Day 2: The second day’s session was arranged in association with ISTD Pune Chapter. Mr. Ravi Baviskar and Dr. S G Bapat conducted Management Games to convey learning concepts with the aims based on 3F’s.
1 F was Fun- Learn with Fun
2 F was Friendship – Not a single activity can be possible without team spirit. Friendship is one aspect of team work.
3 F was Focus – It has been proven in the past that focus is utmost important for attainment of goals in life. Day two was concluded with Group SWOT analysis which was presented for gallery walk.

Day 3: Col. Sanjib Nag (Retd.) was keynote speaker on the third day. He enlightened the students by ‘Management lessons from various battles undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces’. Strategies adopted during the war time were shared by him. The students loved the session and had a good interaction with the speaker.

Day 4: Informal gathering i.e., Talent Show Case was organized for Fresher batch. Rational behind the program was to bring out the hidden talents. This was followed by an interaction with their seniors.
Outcome: Students understood how to behave in the corporate world. They were also benefitted with the importance of focus, aim, strategy and goal setting to face the competition in the industry.

Summary: Management Information Systems (MIS) not only include software systems, but the entire set of business procedures and resources that are used to pull together information from functional tactical and strategic levels. Organizations have multiple functional systems. These usually include sales systems, financial and accounting systems, inventory systems, logistic systems and more. MIS combines information from multiple systems and generate necessary reports required by top management. The thought behind arranging guest lecture is to prepares and strengthen students for challenging careers involving the design, analysis, implementation and operation of computer-based information systems. The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Shubhada Athavale, who is MIS subject expert. Mrs. Athavale was resource person for Faculty development Program conducted by SPPU.

Objective: To discuss the various career options for entry to get into banking sector.

Summary: The SPANDAN 2017 - Cultural intra departmental event held by different department in institute. MBA Department, who performed the skit on Sambhawami- A tribute. Sagarika Bibikar and Nikita Shirsat represented the Spandan 2K17 team as Department Student Coordinator. The skit was based on the life of Indian soldiers that have scarified their lives for the nation and social concerns. The heart touching performance received standing ovation. Nikita Shirsat, Ankita Desai and Surbhi Jejurikar performed solo dance.

Summary :

Businesses are generating homogenous amount of data now a days through various sources. In order to be employable students needs to enhance the analytical skills in the area of research. Total number of students registered were 58 from MBA I and II.
They are finding it difficult to make sense of that data and gain meaningful insight. As these students face acute shortage of basic analytics skills. The main reason of conducting this workshop is to equip the students so that they can gain in-depth understanding of analytical tools like R and Excel. The endeavor of this workshop was to learn to swim in an ocean called Analytics. This is one of the most popular courses to bridge the gap between students from non-analytical background.

Outcome : The purpose of the seminar was to supplement students with basic of Emotional intelligence. Through the session students got to know higher your emotional intelligence, the more likely you are to succeed in personal and professional relationships. Summary : As we know today emotional intelligence is essential in effective leadership and has a direct impact on work performance. The seminar was organized by MBA Department which focused on four clusters related to EI, Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Social Skills.
In the seminar Ms. Archana highlighted that principles of Emotional Intelligence, reflective practices and mindfulness can be used to enhance professionalism and overall performance.
Without emotional intelligence it would be very difficult to interact effectively with others. Emotional intelligence allows us to perceive emotions, which then allows us to understand them. This enables us to understand another person’s motivations so we can reason with them. Emotional intelligence further enables us to manage our own emotions.

Talent Assessment Analysis Test which includes personality and aptitude tests (psychometrics) are helpful for understanding student's innate preferences and liking. It also helps to predict overall student behavior and assess the abilities and intelligence levels. These tests can be used for self-reflection and understanding of the students, for job placement, and for learning how to better interacts with others in a team or work group.

Summary: This activity was conducted in collaboration with NGO, Sare Jaha Se Acha on Saturday, 11/9/2016 at Pune Railway Station.
Spit Free India is an initiative by Sare Jahan Se Acha against spitting in public. Spitting in public poses a threat to health as spit is the cause of many diseases. While being unsafe. it also makes our beautiful country look utterly ugly.
The students performed a street play that acted as promoting awareness but also trying to find innovative and feasible solutions for people's spitting habits.
We had undertaken a drive which received an overwhelming response. Many auto rickshaw drivers, coolies at the station and Policemen supported the campaigning. The suggestive solutions are at different stages on their way to action.
