CSI

The institute has a CSI Student branch since 2011. Any student from the department of Computer and Information Technology engineering can be a member of this student branch by paying the CSI student branch membership fee. Organizing several technical activities, technical competitions, seminars and workshops has always been the main objective of this branch.

Session on Software Testing and Automation
Date & Day: Saturday25th August 2018

Objective :
  • To learn ways to solve issues related to software development using proven solutions.
Summary Report:
  • CSI Student Chapter of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized seminar on “Software Testing and Automation” for all students from I.T. and Computer Department.
  • Mr.AmolChavan has explained Software Testing in industry point of view and automation in software testing.
  • He talked about how software testers worked in real time applications. Why automated testing is mandatory and how it works.

Introduction To GPU And CUDA Programming

  • To learn parallel Model of computation using GPU and CUDA.

Summary Report:
  • Department of Computer engineering of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a two days’ workshop on “Introduction to GPU and CUDA Programming” in association with CSI student chapter for All students from computer and IT Department.
  • Workshop started with the introduction and history of CPU, GPU and continued with development of small CUDA programs. Further discussion took place where the HPC is used recently.
  • This two-day workshop was very useful and helpful for students to understand the fundamental knowledge of HPC.

  • Two days’ workshop is organized by Department of Computer Engineering, PES’s MCOE Pune. Under Vidyarthi Vikas Mandal Savitribai Phule Pune University In association with CSI.
  • The session was attended by Second Year students and faculties of Computer Engineering and IT Department.
  • ➢ The speaker has delivered following Concepts Hello world Program, Object Model of Python, Assignment statement, Branching Statements, Looping Statements, Container data types of python, File handling in python, Writing and calling Functions on python and implementation of Basic command in python (cp command, wc command).

Open Source Software Management and Testing Tools

Objective : To provide hands on in the area of software management and test the software using automation testing tools.
Outcome : Participants leaned practical use cases and their solutions on the software project management and testing-Hands on.

  • CSI Student Chapter of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized Two days workshop Open Source Software Management and Testing Tools a for all students from I.T. and Computer Department.
  • Speakers has explained Software Modeling and Architecture and Software Design patterns. Also speakers gave Hands on Software Testing Tools in real time applications.

Mobile Application Development
Date & Day: 7 Feb 2018 to 9 Feb 2018

Objective : To enable the participants to develop mobile applications and to train them to use Android Studio as IDE.
Outcome : Participants leaned to design and develop Mobile Application Workshop and learn how to create own APP on Android platform & Publish it on Play-store.

  • CSI Student Chapter of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized three days Workshop on Mobile Application Development.
  • This workshop introduces about Android, the fastest growing mobile OS. The job opportunities in this stream are not only restricted to the manufacturing, repairing and maintenance of mobile handsets but also it provides a lot of career opportunities in mobile application development for software professionals.

Objective : To learn to search topic related research papers & understand how to read papers.

Summary Report:
CSI Student Chapter of P.E.S.’s Modern College of Engineering, Pune-05, has organized a guest lecture on Research Methodology for all students from I.T. and Computer Department. Dr. Manish Godse has started the session with how students can select the project topics, how they can work on it. Sir has showed them online what to read from research papers using ACM. For project work, students need to study various papers from their domain.
ASPIRE 2K18 state level project competition
Date & Day: Wednesday, 28/3/2018

Objective : To provide an opportunity to bring together students and present their ideas, results and development activities in the fields of computer and IT.
Outcome :
Participants got awareness about fast growing technologies and practical usages.

  • CSI Student Chapter of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a state level project competition ASPIRE 2K18 for all UG students.
  • Students got open platform to present their projects and presentation skills. They got guidelines and assessment of projects by industry personnel.
  • 70 projects groups from different colleges participated in ASPIRE.

  • To learn how to search and read reference paper.
Summary Report:
  • Department of Computer Engineering of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a session on How to read reference paper for all students from Computer Department.
  • Workshop started with the topic which books need to be read for any subject.
  • Students got idea of how to start with reading a reference paper. The session was very useful and helpful for students to understand that before writing a technical paper you should be a good reader.

Robotics Workshop And Onboard Programming [Technical]
Day & Date : Friday 28th Sept. 2016
Resource Person : Mr. Ayush Singhal
Objectives :
  • To understand working of embedded board for robotics.
Outcomes :
  • During the Workshop:Participants implemented code for line tracing robot.
Summary report :

This workshop was conducted under the Techfest, IIT BOMBAY. An approximate of 85 students attended the workshop. The actual kits for making a robot were provided to the students. Everyone was very happy with the workshop. It was a successful workshop

Seminar on Undoing Lord Macaulay [Technical] Day & Date :Friday 1st Sept. 2016 Resource Person :Dr. Vijay Gokhale Objectives :
  • To understand fundamentals of computer & techniques to develop project like open GL, DirectX, Direct 3D, CUDA on various platforms.
Outcomes :
  • Student got the insight of latest technology.
Summary report :

A guidance seminar was organized under CSI student chapter. Students from the Branch Computer , I.T , ENTC , MCS , BCS , MCA attended the seminar . Students gained an Insight on concepts like creating software leverage (importance of coding) , Fundamentals of computer and techniques to develop projects. Students also had an opportunity to witness projects on cutting edge technologies like OpenGL, DirectX , Direct3D , CUDA on various platforms.

Two Days Workshop On Android [Technical]
Day & Date : Monday & Tuesday 29th and 30th Augt 2016

Objectives :
  • To learn how to develop basic Android Apps.
Outcomes :
  • During the Android Workshop:Participants leaned or aware about Android Technology and able to write code.
Summary report : Department of Information Technology of Modern College of Engineering Pune-05, has organized a two days workshop on Android for All students from I.T. and Comp Department. Workshop started with the introduction and history of Android and continued with development of small scale android applications. Further different event management apps are taken. This two days workshop was very useful and helpful for students to understand the fundamental knowledge of developing Android App.
One day workshop on “Report Writing using LATEX”.

Objectives :
  • To give awareness about the importance of LATEX for writing research papers and project report.
Outcomes :
  • The students were able to use LATEX typesetting technique to prepare a document.
Summary report : One Days workshop on LATEX was organized on 16th July, 2016 conducted by Mr. A. S. Rumale Asst. Professor at SVPM’s college of engg, Malegaon-bk under CSI student chapter. S. E. And T. E. students attended the session and understood importance about LATEX in research documentation. They were also guided to write research paper, project report and presentation in LATEX.
Project Competition at M'Pulse-2016 [Technical]
Day & Date : Saturday 19th March 2016

Objectives :
  • The objective of this event is to challenge students’ imaginative thinking and creative engineering approach towards designing their projects.
Outcomes :
  • The students got a common platform where all the projects being worked on by them at different colleges were showcased.
Summary report : Project Competition at M'Pulse-2016 was organized on 19th March, 2016. This event took place on the second day of CodeFiesta.The event was sponsored by Computer Society of India (CSI). The participants of project competition were highly appreciated as the ideas presented by them were very innovative. Projects were evaluated on the basis of Technical quality, Creativity, Relevance to a real-life problem in software systems.
Workshop on “Application Development on QT Framework”.
Day & Date : Friday 5th Feb 2016
Resource Person : Mr. Anil Dahiya
Objectives :
  • To practice Graphics Application Development using QT Framework & Python.
Outcomes :
  • The students were able to develop simple application on QT Framework.
Summary report : One Days workshop on QT Framework was organized on 5th February, 2016 conducted by Mr. Anil Dahiya a Chief Technology officer at Impeccable Research Lab and Mr. Nandan Nivgune of Impeccable Research Lab, Pune under CSI student chapter. Students and Staff attended the session and understood about QT framework and its components. They were also guided to implement simple graphics applications and also the future development that can be done using this technology was mentioned.

  • To understand the booting process step-by-step on various platforms.
Outcomes :
  • The students were able to understand the importance of booting and also the consequences of it.
Summary report : 2 Days workshop on Booting Process was organized on 24th and 25th July, 2015 conducted by Mr. Yogesh Babar a System engineer at RedHat, Pune under CSI student chapter. The students attended the session and understood how the system boots in 10seconds, what are those processes which important in booting process. They were also guide with live projects and future development in these areas.
expert talk on “Transforming Knowledge Management with upcoming IT trends”

Objectives :
  • To give awareness on importance of management in IT industry.
Outcomes :
  • Understanding the importance of knowledge management in software development life cycle is a must and that is what students were made aware of.
Summary report : Session on Transforming Knowledge Management with upcoming IT trends was organized on 3rd July, 2015 conducted by Satyajeet Pangu under CSI student chapter. S.E, T.E and B.E students attended the session and understood how the knowledge is reused for achieving further objectives small exercises and their life experiences.
