Art Circle

INTRODUCTION

PREAMBLE

The art circle of P.E.S. Modern College of Engineering started in the year 2002. As we are participating for the first time in the prestigious Purushottam Karandak, with one act play named SPNDAN, henceforth the art circle of this Institute got recognized as “ SPANDAN – THE ART BEAT.”

The art circle was formed with the objectives like :

  • To foster global competencies such as leadership, team work, organizing and management among students by providing cultural platform.
  • Inculcating value system among students through active participation in various cultural activities such as Vinodottam Karandak , Firodia Karandak , Purushottam Karandak, Street Plays.
  • To promote the use of technology in various creative activities so as to cultivate hidden talent of students.
  • To pursue quest of excellence, personal and professional success with an understanding and appreciation of ethical behavior, social responsibility and diversity, both as individuals and in team environments.

Purushottam Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘Maharashtriya Kalopasak Pune’ group. It is a prestigious competition and a very good platform for the students interested in acting, script writing, direction, Backstage etc.


Firodiya Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘Sahamati Pune’ group. A multiple talent showcase where theatre, music, sculpture, paintings, shadow plays, sand animations and many more are to be connected and presented dramatically using a unique theme.


Vinodattam Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘One Kid Foundation’ group. Vinodottam Karandak is the only competition dedicated to only comedy plays and has gained lot of popularity among theatre activists.

SPANDAN is an intra collegiate cultural festival where students of this Institute present their talent in drama, singing, classical singing, solo and group dance, fashion show etc. This event is organized by our students.


Debate Club was formed to increase confidence, self esteem and poise among the students.


Standard Operating Procedures

  • Discussion of Cultural incharge with activity incharge regarding all cultural events during the year , its budget , tentative date fixation for Annual Social & venue , student representative for these activities.
  • Meeting with all student representatives along with staff incharges.
  • Arranging various workshops for talent show case through which student team (on stage / back stage) gets finalized.
  • Providing all facilities for the preparation of activity after discussion with student representatives.
  • Actual implementation of the activity.
  • Preparation of activity report and submitting it to :
    • a. Departmental file
    • b. Web site coordinator.

Objective:

  • To foster global competencies such as leadership, team work, organizing and managementamong students by providing cultural platform.

PURUSHOTTAM KARANDAK

Purushottam Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘Maharashtriya Kalopasak Pune’ group. It is a prestigious competition and a very good platform for the students interested in acting, script writing, direction, Backstage etc. Purushottam Karandak completed its 54th year in 2018. It is the competition where all the parameters related to theatre are observed. The knowledge of dramatics, physical theatre, experimental plays and innovative ideas are the key factors. It is the only platform which gives preference to students’ current generation’s issues and the way they think to present.

Team Modern College of Engineering has been successfully achieving loads of prizes and appreciation from jury members. We have been focusing on issues like virtual world and its effects on relations, mobile addiction, extensive use of internet and its short comings etc.

We have been securing remarkable place in the final rounds of this competition with individual prizes for acting, direction etc.

FIRODIYA KARANDAK

Firodiya Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘Sahamati Pune’ group. It is a prestigious competition and a very good platform for the students interested in acting, script writing, direction, dance, singing, arts, technical events etc. Firodiya Karandak completed its 45th year in 2018.

This competition is nothing but a place for college students to present live movie on stage. A multiple talent showcase where theatre, music, sculpture, paintings, shadow plays, sand animations and many more are to be connected and presented dramatically using a unique theme.

For last many years, our Institute is securing top position and loads of individual prizes in many sections like music, dance, acting, direction etc.

After Primary round, our team is one of the team of best 9 and selected for Final. We bagged total 6 prizes.

VINODOTTAM KARANDAK

Vinodattam Karandak is a drama competition organized by the ‘One Kid Foundation’ group. It is a prestigious competition and a very good platform for the students interested in acting, script writing, direction, Backstage etc. Vinodattam Karandak completed its 12th year in 2018.

Vinodottam Karandak is the only competition dedicated to only comedy plays and has gained lot of popularity among theatre activists. This is the unique platform within itself. A hard nut to crack one may say, as comedy is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Our team has been taking this challenge as an opportunity and grabbing success in this competition. For last many years we are securing ranks in first 3 places with loads of individual prizes in acting, direction etc.

SPANDAN

SPANDAN is an intra collegiate cultural festival where students of this Institute present their talent in drama, singing, classical singing, solo and group dance, fashion show etc. This event is organized by PES MCOE itself for the students. The students perform all these activities related to a particular theme.

In this event, we felicitate students of different streams who are toppers, best outgoing, winners in various renowned competitions, sports achievers , NSS team, cultural team and many more.

Every year, trophy of best department is given to the one which performs best in departmental acts.
